Director of Construction and Quality Assurance

Douglas E. Schlagel

As director of construction and quality assurance in the Office of the University Architect, Schlagel is responsible for the daily coordination and supervision of the department’s active construction projects in order to achieve optimal quality while minimizing the University’s risks and costs. Schlagel also manages the department’s quality assurance plan to improve the quality of the construction documents prepared by the design consultants, and serves as a construction cost resource to the department.

Prior to joining the University in September 2001, Schlagel served in various project management positions for both publicly and privately held national construction firms. Schlagel earned his B.S. in building construction and contracting from Purdue University, West Lafayette in 1986.
